1827 Royal Navy Officers Sword and Scabbard EIIR Queens Jubilee Limited Edition
1827 Royal Navy Officers Sword and Scabbard EIIR Queens Jubilee Limited Edition
An exceptionally rare M.O.D regulation 1827 Pattern Royal Navy Officers sword, commissioned to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Year and last year of her reign.
The sword itself is beautifully and subtlety embossed with the official Jubilee crest.
The original Royal Naval sword was designed in 1805, although elegant in design it proved impractical and was replaced in 1827 by the solid hilt variant. In 1846 the Royal Naval blade was standardised for all Royal Naval officers, with the current lighter, straight single-edged blade being commissioned into service in 1929.
The current M.O.D regulation Royal Naval officers sword features a hand sculpted 24 karat gold-plated lions head pommel, 24 karat gold-plated basket (bearing the Naval insignia) and a traditionally dyed and age dried ray skin hilt. The scabbard is hand made of black buffalo rawhide and fitted with three 24 karat gold plated mounts.
